A New Approach for Fighting Alzheimer's
(Source: Ascribe Newswire) - Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine have shown that impaired function and loss of synapses in the hippocampus of a mouse form of Alzheimer's disease is related to the activation of immune cells called microglia, which cause inflammation. These events precede the formation of Alzheimer's tangles - twisted fibers of tau protein that build up inside nerve cells.

Several years ago while driving home from teaching a high school class, I was suddenly aware that I was steering my car across eight lanes of oncoming traffic! I was following the white line - not the one between lanes, but the one that had been put there to temporarily redirect traffic to toll booths which were no longer there. That was enough to scare me. I voluntarily stop driving the next day.
